MSA Show Your Colors FAQ

When will MSA Show Your Colors 2023 take place?

MSA Show Your Colors is a 24-hour campaign beginning 12 a.m. CST on Saturday, June 24, 2023 (Alumni Day) and ending 12 a.m. CST on Sunday, June 25, 2023.

How do I make my gift?

Donations can be made at https://mizzougivedirect.missouri.edu/Item.aspx?item_id=470.

Doesn’t MSA get money from the state?

Yes and no. Between 1985-2009 and in 2015-2016, MSA was fully funded by the state legislature. In recent years, however, funding has been uncertain, and we now need to raise funds every year to try and offset the cost of attendance.

How much does it cost to run the Academy?

Great question! And a tricky one. The University of Missouri provides administrative support to direct and run the Academy, and MSA has received significant discounts from the Department of Residential Life and Campus Dining to keep costs reasonable. Even will these discounts, it costs around $650,000 each summer to make the MSA magic happen.

How much should I give?

Any amount helps! Seriously. Even small donations make a big impact!

What does my contribution go toward?

Your donation will sponsor scholarships for scholars, as well as funding events, activities and speakers at the next Academy. In other words, your donation directly supports next year’s Academy.

I have another question. Whom should I contact?

Please reach out to moscholarsacademy@missouri.edu with further questions about the campaign. If you would like to discuss a more substantial contribution, please contact Associate Dean Rachel Harper directly: harperrp@missouri.edu.
